Man Utd are through to the Europa League quarter finals after a 2-1 aggregate win over FC Rostov.

Manchester United are through to the last eight of the Europa League.

Juan Mata's goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory over Rostov on the night and ensure safe passage to the quarter finals with a 2-1 aggregate win.

However, United required Sergio Romero to pull off an excellent stop with the final kick of the game to prevent the tie from going to extra time.

Jose Mourinho will consider it job done for his side, but suffered a significant blow with the loss of Paul Pogba to injury. The Frenchman pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring problem and is likely to be out of Sunday's Premier League clash with Middlesbrough.

Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are already suspended.

Daley Blind also went off early with double vision, while Marcos Rojo provided a major talking point by eating a banana on the pitch.

United will find out the identity of their quarter final opponents in Friday's draw in Nyon.

“It was a matter of finishing our chances again,” Mata told BT Sport.

“For the first half, for some moments we played great football, we created some nice chances but we couldn’t finish. We need to score. If not it is difficult to get through. It is important that we kept our goal, we have done our job and we are happy to win.”
